Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) RFC
was formed in 1973. Led by the motivation of Hale T. Peffall, Jr. (MML),
the alumni have always had a strong tradition of supporting the active
side and returning to Alumni Field in Philadelphia to relive past
glories. Dramatic changes at PCOM in the spring of 2000, led to a brief
period of leaderless direction. Despite several attempts to organize old
and young, efforts were disorganized and unproductive.
However, all of that changed in 2006, when Dave
Bohorquez '97 revived the spirit of tradition by organizing past players
to participate in the Fort Lauderdale Ruggerfest under the guise of
RUGBY WHORES. Unfortunately, participation was not equal to his efforts
- but that did not stop anyone from having a good time. Those faithful
few renewed their efforts for the following year.
Divine inspiration - and several adult beverages - led
to the creation of PCOM FOSSILS. Turnout for the 2007 Fort Lauderdale
Ruggerfest was overwhelming with players of the past from all over the
country converging on South Florida. The weekend was unforgettable in so
many ways.
And a new tradition was born....
The FOSSILS continue to serve as an outlet to reclaim
youth, relive old memories and support the current side - PCOM RFC. |
